Philippine Eagle Centre, Davao

A visit to Davao should include a tour around the Philippine Eagle Centre at Malagos Garden Resort. It's a nature resort with quite a number of eagle species including the famous Philippine Eagle, also known as the Monkey-eating eagle. I finally saw the famous eagle named "Pag-asa" (hope) and the current "king", an eagle called "Mindanao".

This was my first time to see a Philippine Eagle in person and it is indeed a beautiful bird, really fierce and mighty. It's too bad they are put in really huge cages. We couldn't get nearer than five meters so I wasn't able to get a headshot.

Butterfly House, Davao

The Butterfly House in Davao is actually just a small garden enclosed in a fine net over the roof. It's found within the compound of crocodile park, which we also visited before seeing the butterflies.

It was quite fantastic to see butterfly cocoons and walk in a garden with so many butterflies flying around. We also passed by the Philippine Eagle center where we saw a lot of species of eagles. Here I feature the interesting writings found engraved on the concrete walkways around the place.

A Bus Ride to Negros Occidental

The road to my father's home town is quite long. It's a five-to-six-hour bus ride away from Dumaguete. I always visited Bacolod (Negros Occidental) when I was a child. That was when we had two-month summer breaks in school and we had nothing to do so my parents would send us there so we could play with our cousins.

It was only during my trip last May when I got to really appreciate the beautiful greenery that i saw outside the bus window.

Here is a glimpse of the wonderful sunrise from home a few minutes from the time the bus left the station.

If these clouds could talk

If these clouds could talk, what would they tell me? What have they seen from above?

The clouds and the sky fascinate me. That is why I always take a window seat whenever I fly. It's remarkable to see them so close, and I always get the feeling of wanting to touch them. Looking out the seeing the clouds seems like a temporary escape to another world, where you can see the beauty of God's creation in peace.

I was lucky to see something very nice on my flight from Cebu to Puerto Princesa. A rainbow. Yes. I saw a rainbow and I was looking down at it from my window seat. I have seen rainbows before but never from that perspective.

These photos were shot while traveling from Davao to Cebu.
