Catching Up January

Happy new year! Gosh, better late than never! I seriously miss having something to post very often. I realize I haven't been taking more of my random photography ever since I agreed to cover children's birthday parties.

Meanwhile, I have been over at Instagram posting square-shaped what-nots. Until recently, I was using Instagram for Android on a Galaxy S, pretty decent-looking photos but it's quite a pain to have bad quality shots at times. I think the Galaxy 5-Megapixel camera is not as fast as an iOS camera. So I gave into temptation and got myself an iOS device, an iPad 3 for Christmas. I didn't buy a new one but bought a slightly-used one from a friend of a friend. And since then I allowed myself to go crazy on photography editing and typography apps.

Hoping to shoot more creative and random shots soon! Happy weekend!

Low resolution photography

We put up the Christmas tree today, got a few more ornaments like reindeer, santa's boots and candy canes. We've always used Christmas balls but that kind of got boring.

I took a picture and discovered I could take bokeh photos with my phone! Really! I mean, I never thought it's possible because cameras in mobile phones usually autofocus, not allowed to change aperture, but hey I got a bokeh shot by accident today!

Well, we have plastic trees here, not the real ones because real Christmas-looking trees don't grow in the Philippines.

And here are a few instagram photos, edited using various editors. I have quite a couple of apps on my phone just for editing pics, I swear it's what I do to kill time aside from playing games. I have Photo Editor, PicsPlay, DramaPic, FxCamera, Snaptastic and a few more. I am dying to use Vscocam but I don't have iPhone so would have to wait until I get one.

I took quick selfies one afternoon, trying to make something good out of the light I got from the window blinds. Really good to feel sunlight on my face. Been really loving LR these days. I just discovered a super easy way to create collages and diptychs using the Print Tab!

Square Diaries 081912

I hate that I cannot often use Instagram because of the limitations of my mobile phone so to continue this series, I am still using the Android App called Vignette.

Here's my week in square pictures.

Today, I had took portraits of a beautiful mom-to-be, Margaret. We had very little time available so it was pretty quick, took only about an hour, with two outfit changes. We had the shoot in a public beach in Dauin, Negros Oriental (20-30 minutes away from Dumaguete).

Afterwards, we had a little snack in a nearby sari-sari store, had a little chat with Margaret and her fiance.

I am also going to start a square photo series just like this one. I don't always bring a dslr with me so at times i can only rely on my handy android phone to document random pictures when i'm on the go.

Birthday 2012

Well, another year has gone but a lot of things to be thankful for. For the past year, I'd met a lot of artists and photographers who excel in their craft, got featured in an article, got a new camera and had my old one fixed, discovered and fell in love with analogue photography, and still dreaming of visiting Europe.

Went to my favorite cafe, Cafe Antonio.
