Backtrack Post: Boracay 2010

It's always a good feeling to go places and travel and even more fun to get to take all the pictures you want of everything you did and everywhere you went to. When I get home and finally transfer all the pictures to the computer, the number of photos kind of make me dizzy but still excited. My slight problem with this is that I don't get to blog about my travels properly because I never get around choosing and preparing which pictures I want to show in my blog. Because THERE ARE SO MANY!

These photos were from my past vacation to the beach, in Boracay last June 2010. I know. It's such a long time ago. I can't believe I have not created a decent post about that vacation before so I'm doing that now, although I may never recall and talk about what happened back then because I'm lazy like that. And besides, it's been three years, duh.

Smile because life is beautiful

“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soulmate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” — Marilyn Monroe

Teal Wedding at Tierra Alta

Last Sunday, I got the chance to work with Rona, an even coordinator and stylist based in Dumaguete. She specializes in weddings but she can also do kiddie parties.

I was one of her assistants and my job was to help her team set-up the tables and other decors needed for the wedding to look exactly perfect.

The theme was more on colors, teal was the main choice but we incorporated other shades of blue and add accents of yellow and green.

Tierra Alta is also a common choice for weddings. At times I feel it's starting to be so common, but I guess I can't blame them. It's honestly one of the best places to hold a special event.

It was quite a long and tiring day but despite that, it was fun because I had good friends with other team members. Here were some photos I took of the decors we set up. I didn't bring a dslr that day because I knew I would be busy and I didn't want to be also carrying it around while running back and forth Tierra Alta grounds. I did bring the ipad so that's what I used to take these snapshots. I wish I had taken more photos. But again, hands were always full, and the iPad gets too bulky. Seriously not convenient and subtle.

Square Diaries 03062013

Ok. I admit it. Instagram can be so addictive. I maybe am already an IG addict. I don't even have an iPhone. How much more if I get to have one where I could take it anywhere and snap pictures of a thousand and one useless things everywhere. I didn't want to admit it but @instagram recently featured Rob Lutter (@roblutter) who admitted he is addicted to IG so hey, I guess it's ok to admit it (hehe). He's been traveling around the world, simply for the adventure and beauty of it, while he takes photos and posts them to his IG. The same goes to @kevinruss who simply has a stunning gallery, all photos shot using iPhone. I swear this is starting to form a big chunk of a dream that's going into my bucket list. You get to travel and take pictures at the same time.

There are times I think I just want to keep posting photos, but then I hesitate and feel guilty because I think of the people who follow me and I don't want to feed them with crap they don't want to see. But another part of me also thinks that's how instagram is supposed to be. Most people use it to give other people a behind-the-scenes look of your life. I try to limit to posting one photo a day but I get carried away sometimes I post even up to four! But hey, if I ever get to travel so much, I wouldn't care how many I post in a day!

I also created some typography art with quotes that I've never forgotten since the day I read them. I used Illustrator so I could get more practice using it.

On a side note, I visited a local print shop to inquire about printing cards with white ink, and discovered that these people do not know what Illustrator or InDesign is! Seriously? This is exactly why I don't want to work as graphic artist (they call it that here) mainly because of the limitations in terms of equipment, knowledge, exposure and quality of projects they can do. Tsk. I also need (yes, need) to study graphic design so I could get my dream job already!

Xander's Dedication Ceremony

Today, Roselle and Nabi had their first born child, Xander, baptized. It was Protestant ceremony so I think they call it "dedication" but I'm Catholic so I just refer to it the way Catholics do. It was a short but special service, and I got my first chance of carrying Xander in my arms.

I never tried carrying such fragile little thing before because it's simply scary to think I might handle him the wrong way. He's really so small and delicate.

We had a lunch buffet at Don Roberto's afterwards. Food was good and satisfying. They put a nice photo frame at the center beside the cake with photos I took of the baby weeks ago.

Xander is my second godson and I cannot wait to see him grow bigger!
