Artistic Frustrations

I secretly want to be a "jack of all trades and a master of all" but nobody's that good. I, for one, want to dance like Chris Brown and Heather Morris. I want to be a good photojournalist. I want to be a very good graphic designer. I want to be a genius crafter. I want to be a traditional artist (by that i mean sketch and paint).

So, here i was finally trying out watercolor painting. I browsed tutorial videos online, got some cheap supplies (didn't really wanna spend so much considering i didn't know if i can even paint at all). I tried a few still life paintings. Not a big deal. But i can't help but be so jealous of those super talented watercolor artists. I really like watercolor art because of how colors blend in with each other.

So one more thing i learned about me, I can only do very simple watercolor art.

The Life of Sea Gypsies

These pictures were taken last 2009. I was on a boat from Dumaguete bound for Cebu. As the boat was docking upon arrival, a lot of these "badjaos" flocked on the sides of the vessel begging for passengers to throw coins to the water so they could dive after them. If they swim fast and catch it, they get to keep it.

after the blue hour

Blue hour, it's that time of the day just after sunset when your photos usually turn blue-ish. I don't like taking pictures during blue hour but i once had an e-session that took a while to wrap up. I realize though that it does give some good silhouettes.

Nikon D60 Shutter Error

"Error. Press shutter release button again"

This happened to my Nikon d60 two days ago — in the middle of an e-session (!). I tried the solution posted here (except the lubricating part) and i had the shutter firing again for a couple of seconds, and then it showed the error again. :( Which shows that most likely, the problem is in the shutter gears (red wheel near the center)

I wanted to remove the metal plate but it's too well screwed-in with the body, i think it would require me to disassemble more parts.

I've had this camera for two and a half years and this is the first time it prompted an error.

I'm still looking for a Nikon service center. In the meantime, i am considering to get a new camera, a Nikon D5100 as that's how far my budget can go. I've also considered buying a Canon but that won't be practical because I'd have to buy new lenses for it.

If you have some feedback about the D5100 you'd like to share, please leave a comment.

No new pictures from me as of now. Some recent or older ones, i will be posting from time to time.

Nabi & Roselle | E-session

I finally got to write something new after a series of busy days (actually more like lazy days). Today is Valentines Day so it's been decided that I post the recent e-session photos of my long-time friends who are getting married in March.

I took these pictures in two separate days and we had a lot of help from a few friends, which we owe a lot to for the success of this shoot. Here are some snapshots, and there are more posted in my client portfolio.
